There can be several causes of ocean pollution, but the leading causes include sewage, toxic chemicals from industries, nuclear waste, thermal pollution, plastics, acid rain, and oil spillage. It provides over 70 percent of the oxygen we breathe and over 97 percent of the world's water supply. Everyday, the ocean is under attack from natural sources and man-made pollution. Pollution does not only affect marine life and their environment, it also affects mankind.

Rubbish waste comes from humans from earth. Really bad effect on aquatic life and can create blooms that poison people that live on earth. It technically poisons humans. Covering more than 70 percent of our planet, oceans are among the earth’s most valuable natural resources. They govern the weather, clean the air, help feed the world, and provide a living for millions. They also are home to most of the life on earth, from microscopic algae to the blue whale, the largest animal on the planet. Yet we’re bombarding them with pollution. By their very nature—with all streams flowing to rivers, all rivers leading to the sea—the oceans are the end point for so much of the pollution we produce on land, however far from the coasts we may be. And from dangerous carbon emissions to choking plastic to leaking oil to constant noise, the types of ocean pollution humans generate are vast.

Rubbish/plastics can affect animals because turtles and other sea animal creatures eat the plastic then they choke and die!. It is not ok to litter because it affects our environment and animals lives.

Because people throughout the world litter and the litter goes into the ocean, then sea creatures think its food and eats the plastic then chokes and dies then it affects our environment

In fact, just 13% of the world’s oceans have intact marine ecosystems, while the rest have been plundered and degraded.
The majority of healthy ocean space, meanwhile, exists in the high seas, outside of national marine protected areas. As a result, these sections are vulnerable to being exploited, making the creation of international treaties to protect the oceans all the more urgent, according to the Guardian. The goods news is that the United Nations is spearheading an effort to comprehensively protect the high seas later this year.

“We were astonished by just how little marine wilderness remains,” Kendall Jones, lead author of the report, told the Guardian. “The ocean is immense, covering over 70% of our planet, but we’ve managed to significantly impact almost all of this vast ecosystem.”
Oceans are being harmed in a variety of ways.
The world’s oceans are also absorbing much of the excess carbon dioxide being produced by human activity, which causes water to become more acidic and inhospitable to marine life.
The global fishing industry is overexploiting fish populations, and killing various species unintended for capture such as dolphins, sharks, and whales.

What is the impact of the ocean environment??

The environment is something you are very familiar with. It's everything that makes up our surroundings and affects our ability to live on the earth the air we breathe, the water that covers most of the earth's surface, the plants and animals around us, and much more.

Humans have a lot of 'waste' that is often disposed of in the ocean - trash, sewage, oil, chemicals, heat, and even 'noise' to name a few. As the human population increases on Earth these sources of pollution increase. In small amounts much of this pollution does not harm the ocean ecosystems. In fact, sometimes the addition of food waste can increase the productivity of an area by supplying an added food source for marine animals. But, this is always altering the 'natural state' and in most cases becomes destructive in the long run.
Our oceans have long been used as an intentional dumping ground for all sorts of waste including sewage, industrial run-off and chemicals. In more recent times, policy changes in many countries have reflected the view that the ocean does not have an infinite capacity to absorb our waste. However, marine pollution remains a major problem and threatens life in the sea at all levels.
Some marine pollution may be accidental, for example, oil spills caused by tanker accidents. Some may be indirect, when pollutants from our communities flow out to sea via stormwater drains and rivers. Some effects may not be immediately obvious, for example, bioaccumulation – the process where levels of toxic chemicals in organisms increase as they eat each other at each successive trophic level in the food web.

There is evidence to suggest that human activities have caused the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere to rise dramatically. This impacts on the marine environment as the world's oceans currently absorb as much as one-third of all CO2 emissions in our atmosphere.

Environment is a place where humans as well as plants and animals live. Keeping it clean and neat is our responsibility. It is necessary to keep our environment clean because we get fresh air, reduce pollution etc. ... Water pollution and litter are considered to be two of the main causes of the environment being dirty

With the ever increasing use of technology and industries flourishing the amount of pollution in our environment is increasing at a rapid pace. Keeping our environment clean is a very important part of our lives these days. It is important to focus on this as we have to make sure that the environment is preserved for future generations. Water pollution and litter are considered to be two of the main causes of the environment being dirty.

People most of the times throw litter and dust on the footpaths and roads instead of throwing it in dustbins. This is how slowly the litter accumulates and transforms into huge garbage. If this garbage is not cleaned, further it smells stink and welcomes the diseases and then people are affected by it. Thus, if we don’t keep our environment clean there would be many consequences or problems which will be faced by the society and people that live in that environment.

What i have been doing and what i have learned in science/Home chemistry:
Throughout this term my class have been doing some work on Science and home chemistry. Half way through the term we learned alot about Aerodynamic. What I have learned about Aerodynamic is the, Gravity, lift, Drag, and the thrust. We found that the normal plane flew straight for 5 metres. Secondly the Ailerons also directed straight as well and it flew 3 metres. Also with using the paper clip, the paper plane flew 5 metres and it flew straight but curved a little bit. Here are some words and parts of a plane I have learned. What I have learned about thrust is that thrust directs the plane to where it is going, so if the captain turns the wheel to the left then the thrust will direct the plane to the left. Secondly I have learned lots about Gravity.
Also near the half way through the term we done some work on crystals and how salt and sugar are crystals and also how they were made and how the salt forms underwater. What I have learned about how salt forms is that salt forms in sea water and is typically formed by the evaporation of salty water.
Also through the term we have been measuring each other to the where we are at with our height and our foot length. We measured Nikos foot and found out that it was 27cm and we also measured Ryan's foot and we found out that it was 22cm. Secondly we measured lasa's foot and he got 28 cm. After we measured our foots we measured our heights. Nikos height was 166 cm and Ryan's height was 152 cm and lasa's height 174cm.
Also we having been looking at our fingerprints by using a balloon. What we done was we had black ink and put our finger or thumb on it then we put it on the balloon and scanned it.
