Home chemistry science.

Home Chemistry: Introduction

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals, their elements, and reactions with other substances.

Equipment:

1. Dish washing Detergent
2. Lemon
3. Salt
4. Vinegar
5. Sugar
6. Air Freshener
7. Onion
8. Lemonade
9. Bleach
10. Baking Soda
11. Milk

Step 1: We had to get into a group of three

Step 2: Then we had to get the filter paper with the water-based pens

Step 3: After that, we had to get a ruler and a pencil and draw a line then put two dots of water-based colored pens

Step 4: then we put the filter paper in the cup and put about 1cm water into it you will need to tilt the cup so when you tilt it the water must hit the line for it to work

Step 5: Then after we took pictures and blogged about what we needed and did we showed the teacher

Step 6: and then you can move onto the next science activity

Task 1: Put the chemicals in a chart with the titles: Name, Chemical ingredient(s), Image, Solid/Liquid/Gas.

Steps:

Name
Chemical ingredient(s)

Solid/Liquid/Gas
Salt
Sodium chloride
Solid
Lemon

  1. 3 large eggs.
  2. 1 cup sugar.
  3. 1/2 cup lemon juice about 2 lemons.
  4. 1/4 cup butter, cubed.
  5. 1 tablespoon grated lemon zest.

Onion
1.1 large onion, cut into 1/4-inch slices.
2. 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour.
3. 1 teaspoon baking powder.
4. 1 teaspoon salt.
5. 1 egg.

Vinegar
Vinegar is made through the involving of ethanol alcohol. Any ingredient containing ethanol may be used to make vinegar, including distilled grain alcohol, wine, champagne, beer, cider and more.

Lemonade
  1. cup white, granulated sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)
  2. 1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
  3. 1 cup lemon juice.
  4. 2 to 3 cups cold water

Liquid/Solid
Air Freshener
  1. 3/4 cup water (I use tap water, but distilled is fine too)
  2. 2 tablespoons vodka, rubbing alcohol, or real vanilla extract.
  3. One of the essential oil combinations below.

Solid
Bleach
While pure chlorine gas will bleach colors, in laundry bleaches, sodium hypocrite or calcium hypocrite are actually used, and they work by releasing oxygen, not chlorine.

Conclusion:
What i think about chemistry science is that it helps people learn about these items and what is in them. Also i think that it helps people understand why lemon is sweet and why the items have ingredients.

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A sentence to let us know you actually read/watched or listened to what I had to say
3. Something thoughtful - how have you connected with my learning? Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
