What I've been doing for Japanese...


This week I have been learning how to pronounce (How old are you) in Japanese. All the work are in the slideshow.

Aim: To learn about a saturated solution and how to make crystals
Definition of solution
A liquid mixture, when something is dissolved into a liquid (eg: sugar in water) 

Definition of saturated
Having or holding as much as can be absorbed of something (when no more sugar or borax can be dissolved into the water)


In groups of three you will make three different types of crystals and compare the results.

Ratio; 3 Tablespoons Borax per 1/2 cup water

Materials1) Shape pipes
2) Cups
3) Pegs
4) Steering stick
5) Sharpie

Process

Step 1: Shape pipe cleaners into a shape, 
Step 2: Hang shape on a peg, 
Step 3: Mate up borax solution, 
Step 4: Label your cup, 
Step 5: Take and put three teaspoons into the borax cup
Step 6: Steer the borax cup as soon as your teacher or when you feel might be the right time,

Sugar Crystals

Grow your own Sugar Crystals

Ratio: 1 cup sugar to 1/2 cup water

MaterialsMaterials

1) Shape pipes
2) Cups
3) Pegs
4) Steering stick
5) Sharpie

Process

Step 1: Shape pipe cleaners into a shape, 
Step 2: Hang shape on a peg, 
Step 3: Mate up Sugar solution, 
Step 4: Label your cup, 
Step 5: Take and put three teaspoons into the sugar cup 
Step 6: Pour half a cup of water into the sugar cup & steer it,

Conclusion:
After watching the videos as a class, explain how the following crystals are formed:


Type
Explanation
Salt
People place salt into ponds then the ponds push the salt into the ocean. Secondly when the ocean is hot then the water is heated then the salt starts to form. Also the salt is formed by salt water from the ocean, which comes from the ponds then it forms in the ocean. Also when the ocean is hot and heated then the ocean. After the salt is formed then it evaporated.


Sugar


The sugar syrup is directed to one thing by boiling and then cooled and seeded with sugar crystals, causing the sugar to crystallise out.


Snowflakes

A lot of oxygen go up into the clouds and start to form the snowflakes. After the snowflake is formed then the snowflake falls down into land. Secondly the snowflakes are created by very hard wind in the sky then it falls down.
