My Goal for this year

 My Goal For The Year

I have set two Achievable goals for myself, for this year. I have set these goals to improve with school stuff, such as being focused and completing work on time.

One of my goals is to show commitment in my school work by focusing and putting all my effort into the work I do. Also I will show this by studying at home and completing all my work at the right time.

My Second goal was to think positively during School to stay focused and on task with my School work. I will achieve this goal by sitting with a person who will keep me focused and positive well learning.

Individual Work - Slavery

Back in the Early days, where Black Africans and Americans were Slaves, they would use to sing Spiritual songs for house praises/church, they also Normally sing Worshipping songs when someone would die. A Spiritual is a type of religious song. They were sang in informal gathering of slaves in "praise houses" and outdoor meetings called "brush arbour meetings", "bush meetings", or "camp meetings".

At the meeting, participants would sing, chant, dance, and sometimes enter ecstatic trances.

They were used to......

  • Uplift slaves
  • Give them hope
  • Church, Funerals, and if allowed Weddings
  • And to relay secret messages to help them escape. Like Wade in the water

Research:
Harriet Tubman, née Araminta Ross, born in 1820, in Dorchester county, Maryland, U.S. died March 10, 1913, Auburn, New York, American bondwoman who escaped from slavery in the South to become a leading abolitionist before the American Civil War. After she had escape the Slavery, she also tried to save other slaves from slavery.

Spiritual song -Harriet Tubman used the song “Wade in the Water” to tell escaping slaves to get off the trail and into the water to make sure the dogs slavecatchers used couldn't sniff out their trail. People walking through water did not leave a scent trail that dogs could follow. Read the words of "Wade in the Water."

How are these events still significant today?:
  • Some people still sing Spiritual songs for Funerals
  • Families sing spiritual songs for weddings
  • For Birthdays
  • And also for other special cations

Model Atom Blog

Aim - To make a Model Atom.

Method -

  1. Choose an atom to make (one between Hydrogen and Neon)
  2. Work out how many protons, neutrons and electrons it has.
  3. Assign protons and neutrons to a particular colour bead.
  4. Get a ball of blue tac and stick the protons and neutrons to this to make your nucleus.
  5. Cut out the appropriate electron shells and draw on the electrons with vivid.
  6. Connect the nucleus and electron shells with a piece of string.
  7. Create a label to go above the model so people know what you have created.

Discussion (Explaining what I made)
Oxygen -
- Atomic Number + Mass Number = 8/16
- Number of Protons = 8, Neutrons = 10 and electrons = 7
- Electron arrangement - The first shell is only allowed 2 electrons, and the maximum of the second shell is 8.
- 2 facts about Atoms
  1. Atoms are the smallest participial that make up elements
  2. The components of an atom are held together by three forces.

Conclusion:
In my opinion, I think this experiment worked out well because of the calculations and Focus on my hard work. What I found difficult about this, was cutting 2 circles from a paper and sticking the nucleus's on the blue tac. What I would do differently next time is use different materials and make the atom model bigger.

The Treaty Of Waitangi - (Research)

What is Waitangi -

The Treaty of Waitangi is New Zealand’s founding document. It takes its name from the place in the Bay of Islands where it was first signed, on 6 February 1840. This day is now a public holiday in New Zealand. The Treaty is an agreement, in Māori and English, that was made between the British Crown and about 540 Māori rangatira (chiefs).

Why the Treaty of Waitangi is important -

For us New Zealanders, it is very important and special to celebrate the Treaty of Waitangi, for it is showing our respect and support to the cultures in New Zealand, such as Pākehā, British and Māori. Also we celebrate this because the Treaty of Waitangi created friendship and peace between the Māori's and British, and non Māori people are now protected.

The reason of Treaty of Waitangi -

The purpose of the Treaty, was to enable the British settlers and the Māori people to live together in New Zealand under a set of laws or agreements. The main reason for the Treaty, was to protect the rights of Māori to keep their land, forests, fisheries and treasures well handing over sovereignty to the English/British.
